"Hearts For Sight is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers that prevent the blind and visually impaired from pursuing their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. What makes our program unique is that we empower blind and visually impaired professionals to support others who are impacted by vision loss.
Late last year, we were fortunate to cross paths with a wonderful young professional named Jaimee Kadish. After speaking with Jaimee for just a few minutes, we quickly learned that Jaimee truly embodies everything that Hearts for Sight is all about- improving the health and wellness of the blind. Jaimee is a fitness and dance professional with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of movement. She is also a member of our community. Jaimee has gifted our VIP community her skills and time by offering 2 Pilates classes each week, both of which are well attended and enjoyed.
Having accessible opportunities to move our bodies as a blind community is of vital importance. It is critical to have an awareness of how your body moves in space, not just to improve your physical health but also to develop your sensory awareness. For many, access to gyms and fitness professionals who know how to work with the blind is a rare occurrence. Therefore, HFS seeks out skilled professionals like Jaimee to help our community become our healthiest selves. We are incredibly thankful for Jaimee and her collaboration to bring more accessible fitness classes to our blind and visually impaired community. Thank you, Jaimee, for all the support you have shown our community!"
“Jaimee is a true unicorn in our field – she has a special talent for connecting with young children, a passion for spatial awareness and exploration, and lived experience of her own with blindness. Our nonprofit which provides early intervention for families of young children with blindness or low vision, is so grateful to have her consulting with our team. The caregivers we’ve brought Jaimee into support have been thankful for her unique understanding of the struggles with functional movement their child may be facing and her skill in empowering them to feel more in tune with their own body, space and movement. And Jaimee always makes it fun -- she is the BEST!”
“I serve babies ages 0-4 in Nashville,TN who have been identified as having a visual impairment and/ or legally blind. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Jaimee on some of my caseload both virtually and for in-person therapy sessions. This was an amazing experience for myself, the babies and the families of these babies. Jaimee has such a deep understanding of the body and the importance of movement in the overall development of the entire body. Her passion and love for people as well as her real life experiences with visual differences translate into this powerful knowledge base that is so needed in our field. I learned and continue to learn so much from Jaimee.”
“Jaimee has been a massive support to understanding how movement, play, and vision come together in my teaching practices. She has been able to tie together the things we do as professionals that we can’t explain with words and how the brain and body work together. Jaimee’s guidance has taken a primary seat as I continue to develop my own gold standard for lessons from start to finish. I look forward to collaborating with her for future projects in the vision realm.”
