In-Sight Outreach is a non-profit organization created in response to founder Jaimee Kadish’s own journey navigating sight loss and her experience as an early childhood educator. Our mission is to provide movement resources for children experiencing loss of sight or blindness during the most important time of human development, 0–5 years of age.
We work with service providers, families, nonprofits, and different state-run organizations that support resources for individuals living with a visual impairment or blindness. Each state has its own institution for the blind and is one of the main pathways for those in the community to receive resources. However, each state chooses what services they provide. Often, the 0 to 5 age group is left out or services are not specific to children with loss of sight.
Therefore, In-Sight Outreach seeks to work with young children at this crucial developmental stage to provide them with the movement and spatial awareness skills needed to thrive.
Through playfully engaging in movement, we will develop body awareness, physical confidence, and a thorough understanding of the body’s range of motion and expression. Ultimately, we want to empower and equip children experiencing sight loss with the knowledge and tools to support social relationships and build self-esteem while navigating the sighted world.
Outside of this, we have also created a social and emotional movement curriculum for children of all abilities to practice and develop their mind and body connection. We work together to develop individual self-expression and regulation and its place in the larger community. For more information on our Hit The Pivot curriculum, see our media kit here.
